Shannon Nelson, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CPSP is an HR and benefits professional with extensive experience across the entire employee lifecycle. She has worked as a leader in industries ranging from business services, technology, and government and non-profit,, where she honed an expertise at bringing substantial change to organizations. Most recently, she serves as the Director, Global Benefits for Anthology, an education technology and software organization with over 3,000 global employees. Her previous role includes Senior Manager of Global Benefits for the Environmental Defense Fund, Benefits Operations Division Manager for the City of Houston and Corporate Benefits Manager for Buc-ee's..

Shannon is skilled in multiple areas that can keep organizations from compliance pitfalls, including proactive planning, policy development, management training, and vendor selection.

She has both a Master of Business Administration with an HR Management concentration from Louisiana State University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University. Shannon has previously served as committee chair for HR Houston's University Liaison committee, as an advisory panel member for the Managing Human Resources Program at the University of Houston, and as a Board Member for the Houston Business Coalition for Health. Shannon currently volunteers with HR Houston's University Liaison and Symposium committees, where she regularly speaks, counsels, and mentors college students at area universities that are interested in entering the HR field. Shannon lives in the Houston Heights area with her husband and their dogs, Mavis and Millie.
